Free Comic Book Day – May 7, 2016

FCBD is tomorrow, Saturday, May 7, 2016 11am-7pm.

Since 2002, the first Saturday in May has been the biggest day in comics. Store owners, distributors, and publishers work together to get more people interested in reading and collecting comics. Here’s how it works here in Livermore.

Back in March, Bob bought a couple dozen different special edition FCBD Comics from different publishers. Last month, the various publishers printed them up. Last week, Diamond Distributors passed them through to us without markup and we made sure you all know about it. All last week, we worked hard to get ready for our add-on promotions, moving tables and dozens of boxes of comics, toys and books into position. Tomorrow, we’ll set up the tables outside and fill them with Free Matching Merchandise, an extra 5000 $1 comics, and a boatload of action figures for sale.

Then at 11 am Saturday,  FCBD begins, and you will join about half a million people across the country who will come in to their favorite comic shop and celebrate an original American art form.  You’ll get at least 3 comics from the FCBD table(s) in the store, and we reserve the right to offer you even more free merchandise, until we run out.

We have a huge amount of new  comics and supplies, books at full and half price, action figures and other toys, about 5000 $1 comics in the “permanent” collection, manga at full and half price, board and role-playing games, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering, and other card game systems and supplies, packs of sports cards and supplies, Mystery Minis and other “blind box and bag” collectibles, and the most Funko Pops in stock this side of the Funko HQ in Washington.

If you should decided to buy any of that on FCBD Saturday, keep your receipt and take it outside and choose an equal (or almost – we’re not cutting any books in half) amount from a large selection of graphic novels and other paperbacks from the Matching Merchandise tables outside. We’ll even count it after tax, so it’s like BOGO plus 0.095, so… BOGO.095, or better than free, sort of. See you there!

FLASH! Wet weather possible

We are disappointed to see the predictions for rain Saturday, so we may have to improvise. FCBD Basic will still take place inside the store from 11-7. But the Free Matching Merchandise portion of our event may have to be adjusted because of weather. Options include postponing that until Sunday, and, well, we haven’t thought of any other options yet. Keep watching our FB page for the latest updates on Saturday.   Or you can call 925-449-5233.
